The Be2awards - London, 25 September 2013

 

London Social Media Week 2013 includes the third running of the Be2Awards and Be2Talks - a celebration of technology, social media and the built environment.

Since 2008, Be2camp social media advocates have been helping the architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) and related industries think about and deploy Web 2.0 tools and techniques. Once again, it's time for the world's only awards for social media in the built environment.

The Be2Awards are about sharing information and helping construction people connect online, so we:

  • 'crowdsource' the award nominations and encourage online voting
  • host some of construction and technology's most thoughtful speakers at a TEDx-style event - Be2TALKs - throughout the Be2Awards presentations - and
  • don't insist on black-ties and cocktail dresses

Social Media Week will again be held in London in September, this year 23-27 September inclusive, which means we may well be organising the Be2Awards and Be2Talks to take place during that week (following the successful 2012 event). We haven't booked our venue yet, or fixed a date (if you have somewhere that you'd like to offer, please let us know), but we would ideally organise the event to take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 25 or Thursday 26 September - so please pencil these dat...

Builders Conference wins Be2Award

Neil Edwards of the Builders' Conference was a proud recipient of a 2012 Be2Award. The nomination said: "The construction trade association's desire to provide its members and the wider building sector with up-to-the-minute market data set it on the path of unprecedented technological development. The result is a live league table of UK contract awards that is updated in real-time and that is backed by a monthly magazine and commentary video by The Builders' Conference CEO Neil Edwards."

Cesar Abeid, who won a 2012 Be2Award for Best AEC social media blog for his Construction Industry Podcast has sent a photograph from Canada of himself with his award. Many congratulations again, Cesar.

Some of the Nottingham-based staff of construction collaboration software vendor conject were clearly pleased with their Be2Award, voted best AEC collaboration solution in the Be2Awards last month. Conject was previously known in the UK as BIW Technologies but changed its name earlier this year following its December 2010 acquisition by the Munich-based Software-as-a-Service developer. Mark Johnson receives Be2Award

Showing that social media is international, Mark Johnson, last week announced a Be2Awards winner, was presented with his awards in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA this week. Mark won the PR/marketing award and the best education and learning project award. Other awards are being distributed and we hope to show further photos of the winners with their awards soon.
